I am a violinist and educator based in Northern BC. I have over 8 years of experience in classroom and over 10 years in studio teaching. I was inspired by my years serving as a Violin and Viola Teaching Artist with Sistema New Brunswick, a social-development music program that aims to inspire children and youth to reach their full potential through learning and performing orchestral music. I am always looking for innovative ways to inspire learning, and have published articles on accessible music and learning environments for the Canadian Journal of Autism Equity, The Plough Magazine, and the Autistic Professional Network.
As a performer, I currently play with the Prince George, Okanagan, and Kamloops Symphony Orchestras, as well as Opera Kelowna. Prior to that, I held the position of Principal 2nd Violin in the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra and played with the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, Symphony New Brunswick, the National Arts Centre Orchestra, the National Academy Orchestra, and the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra. I have represented Canada on tour with Orchestra of the Americas, Orchestre Francophonie, and the National Youth Orchestra.
I believe that quality music education must be accessible to all and work actively to remove financial and social barriers. I currently offer private and group lessons, working mostly with beginners using a combination of classical and folk methods with a touch of my own imagination! While my focus is on child development and self-confidence, my students have won gold medals in regional and provincial competitions and completed McGill Conservatory examinations.
I hold a Master of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Ottawa, a Bachelor of Music from McGill University, and a Diploma in Education from the University of British Columbia. I am currently working to further expand on accessibility and inclusion in classical music.
